Tesla Diner in Shanghai Could Open Early 2026, report says

Tesla’s retro-futuristic diner isn’t staying in Hollywood for long.

According to a new local media report, the first Tesla Diner in China is set to open in Shanghai around Chinese New Year 2026, which falls on February 17, CNEVPOST report says that.

What’s coming?

Tesla has reportedly secured a 3,000-square-meter plot next to its Gigafactory in Pudong, Shanghai. The diner will likely feature the same 50s-style vibe and futuristic features seen at the original location in Los Angeles.

Prices are expected to be about 70% of what they are in the U.S., making it more affordable for the Chinese market.

The Hollywood diner opened on July 21, packed with:

  • 80 V4 Superchargers
  • Two massive LED screens (66 feet wide)
  • A 24/7 restaurant with seating for over 250 people
  • In-car ordering and synced movie playback for Tesla drivers

And the best part?

You don’t have to own a Tesla to enjoy the burgers and fries. Gasoline car drivers are welcome too. But only Tesla owners get the full interactive experience.

Elon Musk’s plan is bigger

“If our retro-futuristic diner turns out well, which I think it will, Tesla will establish these in major cities around the world,” Musk posted on X.

And next Tesla Diner coming at Starbase, Texas.

And then China looks to be next in line.

While it won’t move the revenue needle much, the Diner adds brand power. It gives people more reasons to visit Tesla locations and creates a cultural pull especially in a market as competitive as China.

Local EV companies like Nio and Li Auto are already trying similar ideas, offering drinks and hangout spaces in their showrooms.

But Tesla’s doing it bigger. And it’s just getting started.
